STATEMENT ON THE 30th COMMEMORATION OF THE GREAT LEADER KIM IL SUNG PASSING AWAYNikolai Aamand Chairman of the Denmark-DPR Korea Friendship Association Secretariat Member of the European Regional Committee For Friendship with the Korean People
On the 8
th of July, we commemorate the glorious legacy of President Kim Il Sung, who passed
away 30 years ago in 1994. We all know the prestigious revolutionary deeds that he performed in
his lifetime, but still it is very important to honour and preserve his fighting legacy.
The great President Kim Il Sung was a true revolutionary hero of the 20th century. From a very
young age, he dedicated the course of his life to fighting imperialism and colonialism both at home
and abroad. He picked up revolutionary communist theory and spent most of his younger days
educating likeminded young freedom fighters on the Korean peninsula.
From his first revolutionary engagement in the “Down With Imperialism Union” to his later
leading role in the Workers’ Party of Korea, Korean People’s Army and as the president of the
DPRK, he excelled in building socialism through revolution and construction. He had it as his firm
principle always to put the interests of the people first. His motto was “The people are my god!”.
Such words are only heard from a peerlessly great leader, as the dear comrade Kim Il Sung.
We can see how comrade Kim Il Sung developed the Juche idea, by applying revolutionary
theory and practice to the Korean peninsula. Juche became the strongest weapon for the Korean
worker and bolstered the rock-steady foundation of socialism in the DPRK. To this day, you can
see the work of a mastermind in every aspect of the DPRK.
It should be our prime goal as the ERCFKP to educate our members and the public in the
important theory and practice that President Kim Il Sung developed. Many socialists and
progressive people in Europe are forsaking the cause of the Korean revolution, when there is so
many important lessons to learn from it. We must insist on spreading the important works of
comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il so that the socialist movement in our respective
countries can be strengthened.
Let’s honour the glorious legacy of President Kim Il Sung!
Long live the DPRK and the Korean revolution!
Sincerely,
Nikolai Aamand
