The exploits of Comrade Kim Il Sung

 

 

The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung will always be with us. Long live the revolutionary ideas of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung! This is the immortal slogan engraved in the Korean people's minds since 30 exact years, since the sudden demise of the President.

30 years are a very short lapse of time in the history of mankind and our world, but the following developments have fully confirmed the validity and vitality of his theories and teachings. Today's world, as he stated time and again during his lifetime, is heading towards independence. This is the era of independence, he used to say, and today we see it all the most clearly. Indeed, he actively contributed to it: in the last years of his brilliant life, he saved the Non-Aligned Movement from certain death and provided a fresh springboard for all progressive mankind to start a new advance after the temporary setback caused by the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the downfall of socialism in Eastern Europe and a number of other countries. His 80^th birthday was made to coincide with that historical meeting in which the historical Pyongyang Declaration titled, Let Us Defend and Advance the Cause of Socialism, was signed. As of today, 306 parties and organizations adhered to that declaration, the last one being the party of Communists of Russia, which joined the ranks of the signatories on December 23, 2020. This eloquently shows how alive is the cause of socialism propelled by the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK.

A revolutionary's life starts with struggle and ends with struggle. This was one of the steadfast credos to which President Kim Il Sung always adhered to, throughout his life. This is also the title of an important speech he gave at a banquet organized for him on his 70^th birthday, in April 1982. This is unquestionably true and his revolutionary career himself is a shining proof of it.

Born on April 15, 1912 in a family of humble, yet revolutionary peasants, at the very young age of 14 he founded the first communist revolutionary organization in Korea: the Down-With-Imperialism Union (October 17, 1926), which took the post left vacant by the prompt dissolution of the old Korean Communist Party. At the age of 20 he created the first revolutionary armed force of Korea's history: the Anti-Japanese People's Guerrilla Army, evolved in the Korean People's Revolutionary Army on March 9, 1934 and finally, on February 8, 1948, developed into the Korean People's Army, first regular armed force of the Korean people in their history spanning 5,000 years.

Though he led a guerrilla army and later a regular army with only two years of existence, he managed to defeat two most powerful imperialisms in one generation, namely the Japanese and the American, thanks to his outstanding military strategy and his seasoned leadership.

For the next four decades and a half, he led the postwar reconstruction and socialist construction, overcoming the challenges posed by the anti-Party counterrevolutionary factionalists and the Right and Left opportunism which split the international communist movement during the 1960s. On the background of the -isms which appeared back then, the Juche idea he created in 1930, as the most advanced idea with which to lead the Korean revolution to victory, developed itself as a comprehensive idea which included all realms, such as politics, economy, military affair, art and literature. Thanks to the matchless theoretical activities of Chairman Kim Jong Il, the Juche idea came to constitute the basis of the universally-valid revolutionary science of Kimilsungism, which the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un further enriched into Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism in 2012.

Not flinching even in front of Khrushchevite revisionism, which President Kim Il Sung was the first in discovering and exposing, and the warmongering provocations by the US imperialists, the DPRK under the guidance of the great man stood upright in front of every turmoil without the slightest internal destabilization, thanks to the single-minded unity he was able to forge among the party, the masses and the army. Living long enough to witness the tragedy of the dissolution of the USSR and the collapse of socialist system in a number of countries around the world, he was able to establish a solid system of succession, thus resolving this arduous issue which was one of the main reasons for the revisionist takeover in many of those countries. He outlined an analysis about the causes of those events, which was taken on by Chairman Kim Jong Il, who dedicated to it a lot of speeches and writings during the 1990s, included later in the recollection titled, For the Victory of the Socialist Cause.

With the loss of President Kim Il Sung, the world sent off a great statesman, a veteran of the revolution and an unexcelled genius, as well as a benevolent father and a tender-hearted and noble man. We are lucky to live in an era in which the DPRK he founded with so much sacrifice is finally thriving and prospering under the leadership of his distinguished successors, Chairman Kim Jong Il and Chairman Kim Jong Un, who developed it into a superpower, letting it even in the restricted circles of world powers.
